After signing Malcolm Roach during free agency and trading a future sixth-round pick to the New York Jets for John Franklin-Myers, the Denver Broncos’ defensive line depth chart looks vastly improved from last year.
“We wanted to be better against the run,” general manager George Paton said after the draft. “We went and got Roach. Then we signed [Angelo] Blackson, obviously another big run stuffer, then made the trade for ‘JFM.’ So they’re not only good against the run, they can push the pocket.
“All these guys play really hard, and they have great football character, so obviously that helps with the front. We still have some guys. We have pretty good depth with ‘Henny’ [Matt Henningsen], and we’ll see about ‘Enni’ (Eyioma Uwazurike) coming back. I’m going to leave a few out, but we like the depth right now.”
Here’s a look at how we see the depth chart shaking out at the moment:
DE | NT | DE |
Zach Allen | D.J. Jones | John Franklin-Myers |
Matt Henningsen | Malcolm Roach | Angelo Blackson |
Jordan Jackson | Rashard Lawrence | Elijah Garcia |
Jordan Miller | Brandon Matterson |
Keep in mind that this is a projected depth chart from Broncos Wire, not an official depth chart from the team. Denver won’t release an official depth chart until preseason begins in August.
Uwazurike is currently suspended for gambling. He can petition for reinstatement on July 24. Even without ‘Enni’ currently on the active roster, the Broncos have solid depth on the defensive line going into the summer.
