Broncos Wire‘s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at the Denver Broncos’ third-year center Lloyd Cushenberry, No. 79.
Before the Broncos: Cushenberry (6-3, 312 pounds) was one of the best offensive linemen to play for LSU. A two-year starter, he earned a second-team All-America honor notice in his final collegiate season. Cushenberry appeared in 39 games (28 starts) throughout his college career. That includes 28 consecutive starts to end his career.
Broncos tenure: Drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft, Cushenberry continued his consecutive start streak with the Broncos in his first season. He started all 16 games. Cushenberry then missed just one game last season with COVID-19. For those keeping score, the center started 44 games straight from college through his first professional season. And 60 of a possible 61 games overall.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Cushenberry will likely be the Broncos’ starting center again entering his third season, but he will face competition for the starting spot this summer. Cushenberry’s essentially a lock to make the team.
