Colorado Rockies weekend discussion thread for April 19-20, 2025

This was a weird week in Colorado Rockies baseball. First, they were shut out in three-straight games against the San Diego Padres for the first time in franchise history. Then, they set a franchise record of 32-consecutive innings without scoring a run. They went 0-6 on the California road trip, though did have a nice moral victory in Wednesday’s 8-7 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. They finally got that “big hit” that’s been eluding them all season — a third-inning grand slam by Michael Toglia followed by a solo homer by Mickey Moniak — but it wasn’t enough. Finally, they relieved hitting coach Hensley “Bam Bam” Meulens of his duties on Thursday’s off-day and replaced him with former manager Clint Hurdle.
Hopefully Hurdle will be able to advocate more for the young players he’s spent time with over the past few years, as well as inspire the major-league veterans. Only time will tell, and we’ll get our first look at how things shake out tonight as yesterday’s game was postponed.
Additionally, we’ll get our first look at the City Connect uniforms on Sunday as well.
