Colorado Rockies weekend discussion thread for May 17-18, 2025
This morning, news broke that a failing Baltimore Orioles team had fired manager Brandon Hyde:

Given that the Colorado Rockies issued a very similar statement less than a week ago — and the Pittsburgh Pirates not long before that, managerial change season has arrived early.
Meanwhile, the Rockies keep losing. They are now 7-37 and on track to be one of the worst baseball teams in the Modern Era.
It’s been a busy week at Purple Row. We wrote about Bud Black’s firing, player reactions, what Warren Schaeffer brings to the team, and how much control Black had over the Rockies’ terrible record. In addition, we covered current fan feelings about the team as well as the lack of hitting.
Not everything was terrible. Ryan Rolison and Carson Palmquist were called up; players came off the IL; Jimmy Herget discussed being “The Human Glitch” at elevation; and we’ve begun using Playback.TV to expand discussion of Rockies games.
The good news is that they keep promoting prospects. So far, seven prospects have made their MLB debuts this season, which is a league record.
So there’s a lot to consider.
Here’s a space for doing that. Let us know in the comments what’s on your mind.
