This Season’s Rockies Is The Worst Team From Colorado

May 8, 2024 by Last Word On Baseball

This season’s Colorado Rockies are historically bad. A few days ago, the Rockies edged themselves on the wrong side of the MLB history books. Colorado has dealt with some dull moments since the beginning of the season. Instances that have signified how bad this team is. Whether that’s their embarrassing 16-1 Opening Day loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks or a staff member sitting in the cockpit on a United Airlines flight, last season’s Rockies went 59-103. There’s a strong possibility this team barely reaches or does not obtain 50-plus wins this season. The state of Colorado has seen some pretty bad teams throughout all sports. However, if this Rockies team keeps performing at a mediocre level, they could be called the worst pro team Colorado has ever seen.

This Season’s Rockies Is The Worst Team From Colorado

The Denver Nuggets won their first franchise NBA championship last season. Back in 1998, the Nuggets went an abysmal 11-71. While the Broncos won a Super Bowl nearly a decade ago, back in 1963, the Broncos opened up the season to a laughable 59-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Later that season, they took a dreadful 58-20 loss to the Chargers. The 1963 Broncos finished that season at 2-11-1. In 2017, the Colorado Avalanche finished the NHL season with just 48 points with a 22-56-4 record. All three teams, the Nuggets, Broncos, and Avalanche, eventually turn their struggles around and climb to the top of the mountain to win their respective league’s championship. The Rockies are the only team left from Colorado that has not won a championship.

Can They Turn It Around In The Future?

This season’s Colorado Rockies may go down as one of the worst baseball teams ever. Regardless, other Colorado sports teams have put their worst moments into bringing a championship back to the state within a few years of their initial struggle. The Avalanche severely struggled in 2017, but five years later, in 2022, they became Stanley Cup champions. For the Nuggets, they’ve always been a team that gets bounced out in the first round. Now, with a tough core built around their stars and great team play, they won their first NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. The Broncos have had their struggles in recent years, but no one can deny how good the Broncos were when they won it all back in 1997, 1998, and 2015.

Does this mean the Rockies can turn things around in the future? Knowing how other Colorado sports teams have won it all a few years after struggling, should the Rockies have hope heading into each season? The Rockies have many promising young prospects like Jordan Beck and Angel Chivilli. If they can quickly develop to the Major League level, that can give the Rockies a huge advantage. These young, promising prospects could be the reason why the Rockies win their first franchise World Series championship in the future. It may be a bumpy road now, but the best is yet to come for the Colorado Rockies.
