Tommy Doyle most recently pitched for the High-A Lancaster JetHawks in 2019 and was a first-time non-roster invitee to spring training this year. In 38 appearances, he posted a 3.25 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 36 innings. That was the third best ERA among relievers, but best among relievers who made more than five appearances. Doyle also converted 19 saves in 23 opportunities. He will likely pitch in late inning situations, which is where the Rockies need the most help. Doyle will be making his MLB debut and wear No. 59.
David Dahl heads to the 45-day IL with a shoulder injury, ending his 2020 campaign. After a breakout 2019 that earned him a spot in the All-Star Game, Dahl was limited to a .183/.222/.247 slash in 24 games. He did not hit a single home run in 2020 after hitting 15 in 2019.
Dahl is unfortunately no stranger to the Injured List. He has dealt with injuries for most of his career and this is his second sting on the IL in 2020. The first time, he was placed on the 10-day IL from August 19-September 9 with lower back soreness.
