Elias Díaz was placed on the Restricted List on August 17 for violating team coronavirus protocols. Manager Bud Black has not elaborated as to what protocols were violated, but Díaz is back. Prior to being placed on the Restricted List, Díaz had played in three games, going 3-for-12 (.250) with a double and a strikeout.
Josh Fuentes began the season with the Rockies before being optioned to the alternate training site on August 6. He did not see any major league action in his first stint in 2020, but batted .218/.232/.400 with four extra base hits (one double and three home runs), seven RBI, one walk, and 20 strikeouts in 24 games in 2019.
Chris Owings has been placed on the Injured List with a left hamstring strain. Owings first pulled up with the injury on August 12, but has played in three games since then. According to manager Bud Black, Owings “felt 100%” going into Wednesday’s game and “felt fine all the way up until the ninth inning…when he was running down the line [on a squibber to the right side] he just re-aggravated the same spot on the hamstring.” Owings has gone 11-for-41 (.268) in 17 games with three extra base hits (a double and two homers), five RBI, three walks, and 11 strikeouts.
James Pazos was a late call-up in 2019 and made 12 appearances in September, posting a 1.74 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 10 1⁄3 innings. So far in 2020, he has made four appearances. In 3 2⁄3 innings, Pazos has allowed seven runs on six hits including a home run. He has allowed three walks while striking out just one batter, and sports a 17.18 ERA and 2.45 WHIP.
