After losing to the Miami Marlins 7-6, the Colorado Rockies finished their three-game series in Miami by being swept. The Rockies now have the worst record within the National League at 7-24. Colorado’s struggles have been seamlessly shown all season long, whether it’s the offense or the dreaded pitching staff. 29-year-old right-handed reliever Justin Lawrence is on the paternity list before the Rockies two-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Now, Colorado has called up 21-year-old right-handed pitching prospect Angel Chivilli to the 40-man roster. The Rockies aim to hit a new low within their franchise’s history this season. At this point, the least this team can do is let the younger prospects develop their game to the Major League level. Perhaps Chivilli will help this franchise out and make an immediate impact on the mound.

Rockies Call Up 21-Year-Old Right-Handed Reliever.
The 21-year-old right-handed reliever has been playing with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats this season. Now, he’ll be skipping Triple-A ball and heading straight to the Majors. With the Yard Goats, Chivilli has had six appearances on the mound. He has put up a 1-0 record through seven and two third innings. He’s allowed two earned runs, eight hits, and four walks while striking out eight. 2018 Chivilli was signed out of the Dominican Republic for 200,000 dollars. However, at just 21 years of age, Chivilli has a solid mid-90s fastball and is holding a sharp changeup that strikes out many batters. During the 2019 Dominican Summer League, he walked 53 batters and racked up 217 strikeouts.
Can Chivilli Save The Rockies In Late Game Situations
There have been a few games now where it’s been the Rockies bullpen that ends up blowing away the win for the team. If Chivilli can become a reliable arm in the bullpen, perhaps he can put an end to some of these late-game losses by the Rockies. Chivilli has pitched shutout innings in four out of his six appearances on the mound. Regardless, these numbers must translate over to the big leagues. Although he’s just 21 years old, the Rockies need this right-handed prospect to give this team some confidence moving forward just a month into the season.
