The Rockies were down plenty of times, but they were never out
The Colorado Rockies avoided the sweep and earned their 13th win of the season by way of the walk-off — their first of the year. It looked precarious at times, but there was plenty of clutch hitting to help them claw their way back against the San Francisco Giants on a getaway day.
Senza’s struggles continue
Antonio Senzatela has struggled mightily this season. He has only made two starts where he didn’t allow an earned run, and has only pitched one game where he allowed less than four. He pitched four scoreless innings in his last outing, but that was in relief of opener Ryan Rolison.
Today was no different. Senza started off fairly strong with a groundout of Jung Hoo Lee and a strikeout of Willy Adames. He then walked Heliot Ramos and then threw a wild pitch to advance him, but Wilmer Flores flied out to left to end the inning unscathed. But the second inning was where things began to unravel.
Noted Rockies killer Mike Yastrzemski singled to kick things off and was followed by Dominic Smith. Yastrzemski advanced to third on a flyout by Casey Schmitt, and Smith advanced to second on a second wild pitch. Both would come around to score on the next two batters. Then, Lee singled and Adames walked. Ramos knocked in Logan Porter and Lee, and finally Flores flew out to end the inning, but the Rockies were down 4-0 early.
The third inning also saw some traffic, but he was able to get out of that one and recorded a 1-2-3 fourth. But the fifth was another inning where the wheels just fell off.
Flores doubled to start and Yastrzemski walked. Smith the smacked a three-run homer to put the Giants up 7-2 and Senzatela’s day was done.

4.0 IP (+3 batters), 9 H, 7 R, 3 BB, 2 K.
Down but not out
All was not completely lost in the midst of this, though. The Rockies battled back during the fourth inning with two outs after Thairo Estrada and Ryan McMahon flew out, but then Brenton Doyle and Mickey Moniak singled to put men on first and second. Orlando Arcia walked, and then Ryan Ritter continued his hot streak, singling to knock in two runs and cut the Giants’ lead in half.
Moniak then homered in the sixth to make the score 7-3.
Fast forward to the seventh inning, and the Rockies started to claw back again. Braxton Fulford flied out to center, but then Jordan Beck singled. Sam Hilliard walked, and Estrada doubled against his former team to make the score 7-5.
McMahon walked to put men on first and second, but Doyle popped out on the infield fly rule and Tyler Freeman (pinch hitting for Moniak) grounded out to end the threat.
Walk-Off Rox
Coming into this game, there were two teams without a walk-off win in 2025: the Colorado Rockies and the Baltimore Orioles. The Rockies ended their streak today, scoring three runs to walk off the Giants in the ninth inning.
Down 7-5 heading into the ninth, the Rockies faced Randy Rodríguez, who has been fire for the Giants this year. Beck, who went 2-for-5 today, flew out but then Hilliard drew a rare walk from the young right-hander. Estrada then doubled to push Hilliard to third and McMahon walked to load the bases.
Doyle reached on a fielders choice to score Hilliard, and an error by Casey Schmitt allowed Estrada and McMahon to stay on base.
Hunter Goodman came on to pinch hit, striking out, but then Arcia delivered the hit they needed. He singled to left, scoring the two runners and putting the Rox over the top.
The Giants battled back this entire series, so it was only right for the Rockies to do so and come out on top today.
