Add Tim Tebow to the list of people directly affected by the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal.
The Mets outfield prospect — and former Broncos starting quarterback — is wearing No. 85 during spring training after Carlos Beltran took No. 15 after joining New York as its manager, according to the New York Post. Beltran left the team in January during the fallout of the scandal, but the Mets didn’t reissue the number.
“I like No. 15 a lot,” Tebow told the New York Post, “but I totally get it.”
Tebow, 32, is in his fifth season with the Mets farm system. He batted .163 last season in Triple-A Syracuse with four home runs and 19 RBIs.
