This may be one of Dollander’s final auditions for an Opening Day spot
After an off-day on Monday, the Colorado Rockies will look to tap into the “Luck of the Irish” on Tuesday instead as they take on the San Francisco Giants split squad in an evening affair.
Chase Dollander (1-2, 7.79 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Rockies making what could be one of his final bids for an Opening Day roster spot. He showed well in his last outing, bouncing back nicely against Cleveland, tossing four scoreless innings, giving up just two hits. He did also issue a pair of walks but no runner ever got to second base while he tallied three strikeouts. Taking command of the game and working into the fifth would a long way in helping his case for the open rotation spot thanks to Austin Gomber likely starting the year on the injured list.
Keaton Winn (1-0, 0.00 ERA) hasn’t worked much in spring training, having just thrown three innings across two appearances. The 27-year-old righty had a 7.16 ERA in 55 1⁄3 innings with the Giants last season and in his last outing in camp threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts against the Kansas City Royals on March 8.
