In a search for offense, the Rockies are bringing up one of their hottest MiLB hitters.
The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled utility player Hunter Goodman while sending first baseman/outfielder Michael Toglia to Albuquerque.

Goodman has recently been making solid contact.
In 91 plate appearances, the 24 year old has hit seven home runs (22 RBI) and is slashing .298/.352/.690 with a 145 wRC+. He has a 20.9% K%, which is well below the Rockies team K% of 26.7%.
As a case in point, here’s how Goodman did last night:
It’s not a cycle, but Hunter Goodman ties career-highs with a four-hit, five-RBI night!

Also of note, the Isotopes have been playing Goodman at catcher, so where he lands on the Rockies roster will be something to keep an eye on given that Elias Díaz is in the last year of his contract..
Michael Toglia, who leads the Rockies in home runs with four, has shown the inconsistency that has defined his career, even though he spent the offseason working to correct issues with his swing. He is slashing .106/.143/.362 for a 22 wRC+. (His current K% is 40.8%).
The move highlights the extent to which the Rockies are desperate to find consistent offense, something that has been a calling card of Goodman’s career.
However, he is not on the starting roster for tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres.
