Los Rockies are headed to Mexico City and we turn our eyes to the minor league affiliates. The first game starts at 2:05 PM MDT.
Los Rockies de Colorado are off today as they travel to beautiful Ciudad de México for the Mexico City Series against the Houston Astros this weekend. With that in mind, we turn our eyes to the farm system. For some extra fun with the upcoming Mexico City series, we will also be linking to information pages for the Copa de la Diversión for each affiliate!
There’s no time like the present to start following minor league baseball, and the Colorado Rockies have a fun and underrated farm system. All four affiliates play this evening and here is the place to discuss the games!
Please note that we will only be doing MiLB threads on Rockies off days. For more minor league updates and information, check out the Weekly Pebble Report!
All MiLB games today are listed in order of start time. Lineups will be added if/as they become available on team social media feeds.

High-A: Spokane Indians (13-4) at Vancouver Canadians (7-10) – Double-Header – Postponed
Today’s double-header has been postponed due to inclement weather and poor field condition. A double-header (two seven inning games) will be attempted on Saturday, April 27th.
It’s Dollander Day for the Spokane Indians north of the border against the Toronto Blue Jays affiliate Vancouver Canadians. Chase Dollander (no. 2 PuRP) will start game one of the double-header after last night’s postponement. The Spokane rotation continues to hum along as one of the best units in the Northwest League. Game two will be started by left-handed pitcher Caleb Franzen, who was promoted to Spokane earlier this week.
The Spokane Indians are joining the Copa de la Diversión this year as Los Cafecitos de Spokane!
“While “cafecito” translates literally to “little coffee,” it can also be used to describe the shared conversation over coffee between friends, or “coffee talk.” Cafecitos de Spokane not only celebrates the connection of robust coffee scenes in the Inland Northwest and Latin America, but also brings together an unlikely combo of two Spokane community pillars – coffee and baseball.”

Double-A: Hartford Yard Goats (9-7) vs Portland Sea Dogs (11-5)
The Yard Goats are looking to snap a two game losing streak against the Boston Red Sox affiliated Portland Sea Dogs, and they’re hoping that if anyone can do it the Cande man can. Jarrod Cande is 2-0 to start the season and will look to lead the Yard Goats to victory as the Goats look for the bats of Adael Amador (no. 1 PuRP) and Yanquiel Fernandez (no. 4 PuRP) to heat up.
In the Copa de la Diversión the Yard Goats take the field as Los Chivos de Hartford!
“The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club will play games as Los Chivos de Hartford this season, in a nod to Connecticut’s strong Latino population. The name, which translates from Spanish as “the Goats of Hartford”, is part of Minor League Baseball’s Inaugural Copa de la Diversión campaign which celebrates MiLB communities’ multi-cultural fans. Players will wear specialty jerseys and caps during the four games, and all marketing, branding, and in-stadium promotions that night will reflect the Los Chivos brand.”

Triple-A: Albuquerque Isotopes (6-18) vs Oklahoma City Baseball Club (15-9)
I’m not going to lie to you, the pitching situation for the Isotopes is quite dire. Despite putting up at least nine runs in every game so far this series, the Isotopes are winless against the Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate OKC Baseball Club, with two games being blowouts. Simply put, the bats—led by the still red-hot Jordan Beck (no. 6 PuRP) can’t win games by themselves.
The Albuquerque Isotopes have one of the more popular identities in the Copa de la Diversión as Los Mariachis de Nuevo Mexico!
“Mariachi bands, like baseball, provide the colorful soundtrack of people’s lives. Mariachis represent celebrations and shared experiences for family and friends; the very fabric of Minor League Baseball. By re-branding ourselves the “Mariachis,” the team honors the function of these musicians, celebrate their heritage, and provide the local community another opportunity to bond over music, clothing and dancing, while enjoying a night together at the ballpark.”

Low-A: Fresno Grizzlies (12-4) vs San Jose Giants (6-11)
The Grizzlies had their seven game winning streak snapped last night in addition to their five game win streak against the San Francisco Giants affiliated San Jose Giants. Jack Mahoney (no. 28 PuRP) and his 1.65 ERA will look to get the Grizzlies back in the win column.
The Fresno Grizzlies take the identity of Los Lowriders de Fresno in the Copa de la Diversión!
“Serving as mobile canvases onto which artists display tribute to Mexican culture, lowriders’ influence on art, music and fashion is deeply rooted into Fresno’s Hispanic community. The team’s “Lowriders” moniker pays tribute to the city of Fresno’s place in amplifying lowriding culture.”
