Colorado Rockies Have a New Streaming Platform for Games This Season

February 27, 2024 by Last Word On Baseball

A little while ago it was announced the Colorado Rockies will have their streaming platform. New to the 2024 season, all Rockies fans living in Colorado can now watch Rockies games in-market both live and on-demand. Rockies.TV is now available to all Coloradans for a season price of $99.99 or a monthly price of $19.99. The platform is only available for Rockies fans in the Club’s Home Television Territory. It’s a completely separate service from MLB.TV. By offering a direct-to-consumer streaming option for fans on Rockies.TV in the Club’s territory, the MLB can lift the blackout for Rockies games which previously was distributed on AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain. This is an easy way to watch the Rockies’ spring training matchups for fans in the area!

How Rockies.TV is Different from MLB.TV

Rockies.TV is only provided to fans who live near the Club’s Home Television Territory. For Rockies fans who don’t live in Colorado, you will have either have to purchase a monthly or yearly subscription to MLB.TV. T-Mobile customers may have MLB.TV with their phone contracts. If you don’t you’ll have to pay. Either 30 dollars a month or 150 dollars for the yearly payment. Only users that have specifically purchased the 2024 Rockies.TV package or the Rockies.TV/MLB.TV bundle subscription can stream Rockies games in the Colorado area. MLB.TV subscribers will not have access and will have to purchase the Rockies.TV package to stream Rockies games in the Colorado area.

What Does This Mean for the Rest of the League?

The Rockies are the first team in the MLB to introduce their streaming platform. Is it possible, that other teams will follow this pattern in the future? With streaming being viable in everyday life, we could see 29 other teams also jump aboard this. Many consumers are looking to watch their favorite teams daily. Some do not have the access necessary. With a streaming platform, the game is just a click away from watching the ball game.
