Fresh off a walk-off win, the Rockies look to keep the good vibes rolling in Atlanta
The Colorado Rockies just secured win number 13 by walking off the San Francisco Giants. Now they head to Atlanta to see if their good luck will continue against the Braves.
Germán Márquez (2-8, 7.00 ERA) gets the ball for the Rox. His last outing was a tough one as he allowed three home runs to New York Mets hitters in what was an eventual lopsided loss. Maybe he’ll have better luck against a different NL East opponent, though history isn’t on his side. In five career starts versus Atlanta, Márquez has allowed 35 hits in just 27 innings, which was led to him owning a 7.67 ERA.
In fairness, he’s only actually pitched once in Atlanta. Hopefully his second stop there will yield positive results.
Opposing Márquez is Bryce Elder (2-3, 4.08 ERA), making his 11th start of the season. Elder, a ground ball pitcher with excellent offspeed stuff, profiles as a tough matchup for Colorado’s offense, especially on the heels of a one-run, eight-inning masterclass against the San Francisco Giants.
Of interest will be the return of Orlando Arcia to Atlanta, who he spent the past four seasons with prior to his move to Colorado. Arcia will likely be searching for a measure of revenge against his former club, so look for sparks out of the shortstop tonight.
Hunter Goodman should factor in as well, as he owns a single, a double, and a home run in six at-bats versus Elder, all amounting to four RBI.
