Rockies hoping to break 4-game losing streak

Despite some thunderstorms and rain around Denver on Wednesday afternoon, the Rockies are set to take on the Giants tonight at Coors Field in game two of their three-game series.

The Rockies (12-54) are 1-4 against the Giants (39-28) this season and 3-14 against the NL West.

Kyle Freeland (1-8, 5.19 ERA) will be on the mound for the Rockies. Freeland is coming off his first win of the season when he gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks in 6 1⁄3 innings against Miami. In his only other start against the Giants this season, Freeland put up a quality start, giving up three runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts in six innings in a 4-3 loss in San Francisco on May 1.

Robbie Ray (8-1, 2.44 ERA) is having a phenomenal season and will get the start for San Francisco. His eight wins are tied for the most in the National League. The 33-year-old LHP, who earned an NL All-Star bid with the Diamondbacks in in 2017 and won the AL Cy Young in 2021 with Toronto, has 87 strikeouts in 77 1⁄3 innings over 13 starts this season. Ray is 6-6 with a 5.16 ERA in 20 starts against the Rockies in his career. At Coors Field, his performance is very similar with a 2-2 record and 5.14 ERA in nine starts.
