The Rockies will (again) look to avoid being swept.
Today, in the second game of a traditional doubleheader and the final game of the series, the Colorado Rockies (6-30) will face the Detroit Tigers (24-13).
The Rockies dropped the first game to the Tigers, 8-6 before losing 10-2 In the second game. In the late game, the Rockies hope to finish on a winning note.
In the final game of the series, both the Tigers and Rockies will be relying on their 27th man to start the game.
For the Detroit Tigers, Keider Montero will take the mount after being called up from Triple-A Toledo
This season, Montero has made three starts for the Tigers. Over 13.2 innings, he currently has a 5.93 ERA, a 1.76 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts.
In case you’ve forgotten, last year on September 10, Montero threw a complete game-shutout when he faced Colorado at Comerica Park.
Tanner Gordon will start for the Rockies today in what will be his first MLB game of 2025. (Read a recap of his 2024 season here.)
This season with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes, Gordon has started six games, earning a 4.82 ERA in 28.0 innings pitched. He has struck out 22 and walked six, giving up three home runs.
And now to the details.
