The Rockies will look to set a winning tone for this home stand.
After coming off a three-series road trip, the Colorado Rockies (8-26) are back home in the comfortable confines of Coors Field, welcoming in the San Francisco giants (15-21).
Colorado’s 8-26 record in 2024 is their worst start through 34 games in franchise history. In fact, the Rockies are the only team in the Majors this season without a series win or a winning streak. (For all you trivia buffs, the longest single-season stretch without consecutive wins in franchise history was a 35-game stretch in May/June, 2022.)
The Giants will start Kyle Harrison (3.79 ERA in 38.0 innings). He’s given up five home runs, walked 10, and struck out 38. The Giants are 5-2 in games the lefty has started.
In his one start against the Rockies last season, he struck out five while allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits (one home run) across 5.0 innings, but that game was at Oracle Park, where Harrison has been a more dominant pitcher. (In his career, Harrison has gone 1-0 with a 2.97 ERA in seven home starts compared to 2-2 with a 4.95 ERA in seven road starts.)
Taking the mound for the Rockies will be Dakota Hudson, who has a 5.93 ERA (30.1 IP, 18 Ks) on the season. The record is not necessarily reflective of Hudson’s season. His eight runs of support are tied for the fourth-fewest in the Majors among pitchers with six starts. Moreover, his 2.37 run support per nine innings ranks as the eighth-lowest among pitchers with a minimum of 30 innings pitched.
Tonight, the Rockies will look to turn things around.
