After a big win yesterday, the Rockies can secure a series dub with a victory Friday night
The Colorado Rockies managed to snap a 12-game skid in the Bay with a win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Now they’ll look to start a streak of their own as they do battle once more late Friday evening.
Antonio Senzatela (1-4, 5.22 ERA) will get the ball for the Rox. His last start saw the right-hander allow four runs in five innings in a losing effort to the Cincinnati Reds. He’s still seeking a way to limit hard contact, having allowed at least eight hits in all but one of his six previous starts this season.
This will be Senza’s fifth career start in Oracle Park, where he owns a career 3.80 ERA.
Standing opposite Senzatela is 12-year MLB veteran Robbie Ray (3-0, 3.73 ERA). The crafty southpaw just tossed his best outing of the young season, a two-run, seven-inning quality start that set the table for a late win against the Texas Rangers (though Ray did not factor in the decision).
Ray has faced only one team more times in his career than the Rockies (that being the Dodgers), and those games have left him with a 5.53 ERA against Colorado. It’s been a very long time since their last meeting, though – almost five years, in fact.
Ryan McMahon broke his 0-for-34 hitless streak with a home run last night. He’s 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI against Ray, so hopefully he can keep his momentum going with a big game this evening. Look, too, for a productive day at the plate for Jordan Beck, who’s hitting a clean .333 against lefties this season.
