The Little Cat returns to the big league club
With the rotation in a little bit of transition as a result of Kyle Freeland’s injury and the doubleheader last Sunday the Colorado Rockies are employing a type of bullpen game as they look to win their second game in a row against the San Diego Padres.
Blach has been stretched out since he was working as a starter in Albuquerque so if all goes well he can provide some length for the Rockies (though judging by the first inning not so much). His numbers haven’t been the best in Triple-A, but it’s a notoriously difficult place to pitch.
He’ll square off against the knuckleballer Matt Waldron who is 0-2 on the year with a 4.74 ER over 19 innings. He has 18 strikeouts against seven walks. In his last start, he allowed five runs on seven hits in 4 2⁄3 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Now to the details.
