The Colorado Rockies will look to return to the win column as they play host to the Cincinnati Reds, with the first of the three-game series beginning Friday night.
Kyle Freeland (0-4, 4.85 ERA) started the season by allowing just three runs in his first 12 2⁄3 innings. He’s allowed 13 runs (11 earned) in the following 13 1⁄3. Freeland left his last outing after just two frames of work thanks to a blister, but has recovered enough to make Friday’s start. He’ll look to return to early season form against the Reds, a team that he’s struggled against in the past.
To do that, he’ll need to silence the tough bats of Austin Hays and Elly De La Cruz.
Towing the rubber for the Reds is Andrew Abbott (2-0, 1.64 ERA), who has begun the 2025 season about as well as one could ever hope. Abbott’s most recent outing saw him fan 11 Orioles in six innings while allowing just one run. The Rockies will try to knock him down a peg as he makes his third start of the season.
Look for a big game from Brenton Doyle, who’s 4-for-8 with a home run against Abbott in his career.
Plus, more City Connects baseball. Neat!
