The Rockies will look for a win to kick off their series with the Baltimore Orioles.
It’s been a big day for the Colorado Rockies who traded third baseman Ryan McMahon to the New York Yankees earlier today in what looks to be the first in a series of trades.
However, as Sonny and Cher put it, the beat goes on — and Orlando Arcia starts at third.
Tonight, the Colorado Rockies (26-76) will take on the Baltimore Orioles (45-57) in the first of a three-game series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Starting for the Rockies is Kyle Freeland. This will be his 19th start of the season, his tenth on the road. He is the second pitcher in franchise history to have nine seasons with more than 10 starts, joining Aaron Cook (2003-2011).
Freeland earned the win in this last outing on July 18 against the Minnestoa wins, allowing one run on five hits over 6.0 innings, walking three, and striking out three.
The lefty has a 5.19 ERA in 95.1 IP. He’s struck out 70 and walked 25, and given up 10 home runs. Freeland has a 1.53 WHIP.
Taking the mound for the Orioles will be RHP Dean Kremer.
Currently, he has an ERA of 4.06 in 115.1 IP. He’s struck out 94 while giving up 30 walks and 14 home runs with a 1.25 WHIP.
