The Rapids have 3 trips to Salt Lake this year—but only two of those are against RSL.
Major League Soccer announced the 2021 regular-season schedule on Wednesday. Each club will have 17 home games and 17 away games, and the Colorado Rapids are heading to Rio Tinto three times this year.
On May 2, they will be facing the Vancouver Whitecaps in Sandy, Utah, and then the Burgundy Boys will play Real Salt Lake on July 24 and October 16. (The Canadian clubs are staying/playing in the U.S. due to COVID-19 border and quarantine rules.) If you recall, the last time the Rapids played in Utah, they destroyed their Rocky Mountain Cup rivals 5-0. Read the recap here to relive that fantastic night.
Other notable games:
- The 4th of July game is at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park against the Seattle Sounders.
- RSL will come to DSGP on August 21
- Colorado will host the Los Angeles Football Club on Decision Day on November 7
There’s still no official word on when/if fans will be able to attend games. The most recent update from KSE said:
“Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), the Colorado Rapids and DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, in conjunction with Major League Soccer, continue to have ongoing discussions with the Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE) regarding the return of fans to Rapids games at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park for the team’s home opener on April 24th against Austin FC.
The health, safety and wellness of our fans, staff and athletes remain the most critical priorities for our organization. We will continue to work with CDPHE and government and health authorities locally and nationally to ensure a safe return for fans to DICK’S Sporting Goods Park at the right and most responsible time.”
