Guerschon Yabusele drawing interest from Celtics, Knicks, Nuggets, more

January 31, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Several teams have expressed interest in trading for Guerschon Yabusele, including the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, and others, league sources told HoopsHype. Teams searching for backup center depth are monitoring Drummond, who remains one of the league’s best rebounders when healthy.

My thoughts on @MikeAScotto’s report on teams calling the Sixers to talk about trading for Guerschon Yabusele, Caleb Martin and other veterans.
Why trading Martin is a tough sell for me + explaining Yabusele’s appeal to teams with major luxury tax bills:

Guerschon Yabusele is Philadelphia’s most interesting swing piece at the deadline, a super useful role player who they must fear they’ll lose in the summer. Teams continue to call about him.
Should they cash in, or hold on?

Guerschon Yabusele, who has been battling a knee injury of late, took a fall and needed a minute to get up. He is headed to the locker room, and with Adem Bona in foul trouble, Pete Nance is likely in for the duration of the half. – 8:30 PM

After a quarter, Tyrese Maxey & Guerschon Yabusele have all of the Sixers’ points. Maxey has 15, Yabusele has 10. The Lakers have 25.
Nice work by the Sixers to bounce back on defense after a pretty rough start there. That gave Maxey and Yabusele a chance to bring them back. – 8:06 PM

Tyrese Maxey (15) and Guerschon Yabusele (10) have combined for all 25 of Philadelphia’s points so far. Tied up after one – 8:05 PM

Guerschon Yabusele steals a Bronny James pass and throws down a dunk despite a close contest from behind from Anthony Davis. Yabusele (8) and Maxey (7) have all of the Sixers’ points. Lakers call timeout with a three-point lead. – 7:52 PM

LeBron James in town. A bunch of Super Bowl-bound Eagles ringing the bell. And the final Sixer announced during player introductions is Guerschon Yabusele. What a world we are living in. – 7:33 PM

The Sixers, I’m told, love Guerschon Yabusele. Yet they might soon have a difficult decision to make with the bruising French forward and his $2.1 million minimum contract. League sources say that Philadelphia has already received multiple trade offers from playoff-bound teams for Yabusele, who has been an effective addition to the Sixers’ frontcourt after his strong play in the Olympics for the silver-medal-winning hosts. Word is there has likewise been trade interest registered in veteran guard Eric Gordon, who is shooting nearly 50% from 3-point range in 14 games in January. -via marcstein.substack.com / January 27, 2025
