Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon and his family are dealing with the tragic death of his older brother Drew.
Drew Gordon, a former standout at UCLA and New Mexico before playing professionally in the NBA and overseas, was killed in a car crash Thursday in Portland, Oregon.
Gordon, who suited up for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season, was only 33 years old. News of his untimely passing sparked a groundswell of support for Aaron Gordon and his family on social media.
“Aaron Gordon is Nuggets family. We mourn with you. Prayers to You AG and Your Family,” said one Nuggets fan account.
“Oh no…this is awful, awful news. So many prayers to Aaron Gordon and his family,” added Nuggets reporter/analyst Chris Dempsey.
“WOW. RIP, Drew. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron Gordon and his family,” an Orlando Magic fan account said.
“Prayers up for Aaron Gordon. I can’t imagine the pain he’s going through right now. If Drew was anything like his brother he would’ve been a kind and good man, and excellent teammate,” chimed in a Memphis Grizzlies fan.
“Man, prayers up to Aaron Gordon. That’s tough,” another commenter said.
“My Lord……bless the family. I remember when Drew Gordon signed with UCLA in the same class as Jrue Holiday. Peace to Aaron, their loved ones and so many who knew him,” Brooklyn Nets reporter Evan Barnes tweeted.
We would also like to extend our condolences and prayers to the Gordon family during this difficult time.
May Drew rest in peace.
