The Denver Nuggets parted ways with both their head coach and general manager before the start of the playoffs, but they have since elevated an assistant coach to head coach and may do the same with their interim general manager. When it comes to their roster, Josh Kroenke similarly believes the Nuggets could get back to title contention again without major changes to their core players.
Kroenke elevated David Adelman to head coach on a permanent basis the same day as he addressed the media following Denver’s playoff exit after a seven-game series in the second round to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“I think a lot of our answers are internal right now,” said Kroenke. “With where we are from a roster standpoint, we have guys locked into contracts. We’re going into a coaching transition. And to be frank, that’s a huge change. Huge change. … DA’s philosophy, how he might use these guys slightly differently, there’s gonna be a lot of big changes throughout our organization already.”
The Nuggets struggled to generate consistent production outside of Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun. There were major inconsistencies with Russell Westbrook and Michael Porter Jr.
