On Monday night, the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat faced off in a contest that turned ugly in the fourth quarter.
With the Nuggets up 111-94 with just under three minutes to play, Heat forward Markieff Morris fouled Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic. It was a little more than a common foul, but Jokic clearly took exception.
Just seconds after Morris fouled him, the Nuggets big man hit Morris with a forearm shiver and sent him sprawling to the ground. The Heat forward remained down on the ground for a while before he needed help leaving the court.
The play immediately went viral on social media with fans taking sides. Some believe Jokic had every reason to react the way he did. Others, though, suggested Jokic should be suspended for what he did.
“Joker completely justified, man tried to dog him,” one fan said.
“Nikola Jokic the Siberian savage, don’t play with him,” said another fan.
However, not everyone thought Jokic was in the right.
“Jokic needs to be suspended for that lol,” said another fan.
It’s difficult to see Jokic getting away from this incident without a suspension – or at least a hefty fine.
These two teams meet later this month on November 29. There will be plenty of eyeballs on that game when it tips off.
