MPJ Takes Shot At Nuggets During PlaqueBoyMax Stream

August 31, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. has been on a media run since being traded by the Denver Nuggets, clips surfacing about his controversial views on myriad matters.

The 27-year-old actually stepped into the podcasting space during his time in the Mile High, hosting the Curious Mike podcast. However, his recent viral views on sports gambling were time-relevant with multiple NBA veterans under federal investigation for the unusual betting activity surrounding games they’ve played in. In fact, his brother Jontay Porter has been banned from the league after being found guilty of undermining. Later, his comments about his dating preferences gained traction, though not because they were particularly meaningful.

This weekend, Porter met up with popular streamer PlaqueBoyMax, answering and asking intriguing questions. One of his most head-turning quotes wasn’t even from a properly formatted question, PlaqueBoxMax saying:

“You catch the ball, you feel me? Sometimes there will be one, two, maybe three teammates open. You could have a (guy’s) hand in your face like this and you’ll still let that (ball) fly… Like, what’s up with you bruh?”

“…I don’t see you,” Porter would explain, a feeling he likely gets both because he’s in the zone and 6-foot-10. “Hey, you talking about confidence? I know nobody’s been in the gym more than me. I know nobody has put up more shots than me. If there was somebody.. if I had a teammate that I knew for sure worked harder than me, then okay.”

“But like, I know from a young age, I’ve been in the gym. Like, every team I’ve gone on, I’ve worked the hardest.”

The Nuggets obviously aren’t the only team Porter has played for, so he isn’t singling them out. Nevertheless, given the status and reputation of a few key starters, they can’t and shouldn’t be brushed aside. With this quote, Porter is telling the basketball world that he works harder than franchise cornerstones Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. That’s quite the statement, especially as Jokic is a three-time NBA MVP and someone he called the greatest player of all-time just two minutes earlier.

Maybe He Has A Point

Honestly, Porter might have a point when considering the path he’s taken to get to where he is now.

Though nobody is immune from injury, he’s the only Nuggets player that battled back from a potential career-ending injury. He not only managed to become a full-time starter but displayed All-Star potential. The Los Angeles Clippers doctor that allegedly wrote a pre-draft report (h/t ESPN reporter Ohm Youngmisuk) stating Porter would never be able to play again probably can’t believe his eyes.

No. 1 Option, Not 1-Trick Pony

Porter is set to become the Nets’ No. 1 option this upcoming season. There’s even a belief that he can challenge for the scoring title.

That’s not just because he managed to keep himself on the floor though. It’s because he’s put in the work to become one of the league’s premier shooters. In fact, he has the fifth-highest career 3-point percentage in Nuggets history (.406) and the second-most 3-pointers (843), the latter mark behind only Murray. Considering Murray doesn’t even rank in the top-10 of Denver’s most efficient 3-point shooters, Porter is effectively the best sniper they’ve ever had.

MPJ notched his 14th double-double of the season:

On top of all of that, while he’s a natural shooter, he’s not a one-trick pony. Offensively, he’s made real efforts to improve his ability to score off-the-dribble. At the defensive end, he’s shown that he’s coachable and mature enough to take responsibility. Despite having an iffy back, he crashes the glass like a big man, helping him control possessions and make the highlight reel.
