Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. had a bounce-back game in Game 2 of the first round series against the LA Clippers. Well, for the most part.
After struggling in Game 1, Porter scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. However, it was one late play that left Porter wishing he approached things differently. Porter turned the ball over after grabbing a crucial rebound. In the scramble, the Clippers recovered the ball and Norman Powell hit a three-pointer. It cost the Nuggets a possession and points, and, to make things worse, Porter was injured on the play.
“I made a stupid play after I got the rebound,” Porter said, “and tried to make up for it. And someone landed on my shoulder. … I’ve never experienced a pain like this in my shoulder area. I’ve had rolled ankles, so I know what I can play through with that. I’ve never had this. Luckily, it’s on my left side, not my right side, so that’s good.”
Porter later said the shoulder injury was “nothing too serious” and that he doesn’t expect it to impact his availability.
