A Monday night game between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat turned ugly after a hard foul resulted in a suspension-worthy play.
With the Nuggets up 111-94 in the fourth quarter with under two minutes to play, Heat forward Markieff Morris fouled Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic. The latter took offense to the foul and responded in kind.
Just seconds after Morris fouled him, the Nuggets big man ran into Morris with his shoulder, knocking the Heat forward to the ground. Morris remained down on the ground for a while before he needed help leaving the court.
The NBA world was split in its reaction. Some believed Jokic deserved some payback for a cheap foul, while others believe he was in the wrong.
It’s safe to say Morris’ brother, Marcus, is in the latter camp. He took to social media with a message for the Nuggets star.
“Waited till bro turned his back smh,” Morris said. “NOTED.”
ESPN analyst and former NBA executive Bobby Marks gave his prediction for a possible suspension.
“My best guess is that Nikola Jokic will get a 2 game suspension from the incident last night,” Marks said. “Jokic has been suspended only 1 time (leaving the bench) and his lack of on court incidents will certainly be taken into account.”
These two teams will meet later this month on November 29.
