No surprise here.

No surprise here.

Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter has been named a co-recipient of the Big 12 Athlete of the Year award, along with Texas Tech softball player NiJaree Canady.

In his two years with the Buffs, Hunter set the college football world on fire with his abilities as a superstar on both sides of the football. As a receiver, Hunter hauled in over 2000 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was arguably even better at cornerback, racking up seven interceptions, 16 pass deflections and one of the most legendary forced fumbles you’ll ever see.

“Hunter produced one of the decorated seasons in college football history, earning consensus National Player of the Year honors and becoming Colorado’s second Heisman Trophy winner,” wrote a Big 12 spokesperson in a press release announcing Hunter won the award.

Hunter has been long gone from campus after being selected second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL Draft in April, but the legendary Buff is still finding ways to bring in even more well-deserved accolades after all he’s done for Colorado football and the Boulder community.

Congrats, Travis!
