The hits just keep on coming. Moments ago, it was reported that Colorado is losing another marquee player to the transfer portal.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, former five-star recruit Cormani McClain plans on entering the transfer portal. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders was able to flip McClain’s commitment from Miami. The Lakeland product was considered the No. 1 cornerback from the 2023 class.
McClain appeared in nine games for the Buffaloes this past season, racking up 13 tackles and two pass break-ups. The hope was that he’d show significant improvement in Boulder this fall.
Unfortunately for Colorado, its roster for the 2024 season has been ravaged by the transfer portal.
Sanders has already lost offensive tackles Savion Washington and Isaiah Jatta have both entered the transfer portal. He also lost safety Myles Slusher, defensive linemen Chazz Wallace and Zach Blackwood, and wide receivers Jacob Page and Tar’Varish Dawson.
It was recently reported that Colorado pass rusher Devee Harris could enter the transfer portal. At this point, the Buffaloes might be numb to another loss.
As for McClain, it’s too early to tell where he’ll end up for the 2024 season. Perhaps he’ll reconsider Miami.
