Omarion Cooper is transferring back to Florida State following one season at Colorado.
Cooper announced his return to FSU, where the cornerback played two seasons before spending his junior year with the Buffaloes.
Deion Sanders’ Jackson State Tigers were among several teams to make Cooper a scholarship offer before he committed to the Seminoles out of Florida’s Lehigh Senior High School. In his first college season, he tallied two interceptions and four pass breakups before recording a pick and a forced fumble in 2022.
After playing 12 games for the 10-3 Seminoles, Cooper joined Sanders in Colorado. In nine games, he collected 37 tackles, a fumble recovery, and five pass breakups.
“What stood out was the beautiful town and landscape! The amazing people there and the coaching staff have lots of NFL experience,” Cooper told On3’s Hayes Fawcett when transferring to Colorado last year. “Why not get coached by the best and a head coach who is from the same city as me?”
Cooper appeared to have a change of heart after one season. He became one of 27 Buffaloes players to enter the transfer portal this spring.
Eight days after re-entering the portal, Cooper chose a reunion with Mike Norvell at Florida State. He’ll rejoin a Seminoles squad that won the ACC title with an undefeated record before controversially being omitted from the College Football Playoff.
The Seminoles have also added transfers such as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, edge rusher Marvin Jones Jr., and three former Alabama players (Earl Little II, TJ Ferguson, and Malik Benson) this offseason.
