Former Maryland offensive tackle transfers to Colorado

The Buffs have needed offensive line help, and this transfer is a step in the right direction

Colorado has landed a commitment from Maryland offensive lineman Andre Roye Jr., a 6-foot-6, 294-pound tackle who brings real Power Five experience to Boulder.

Roye started seven games for the Terrapins in 2024 and appeared in 16 total over the past two seasons. He redshirted in 2022 and arrives in Boulder with two years of eligibility remaining.

Roye played primarily at left tackle during his time at Maryland and held his own against some of the Big Ten’s best pass rushers. While Colorado already has its left tackle of the future in five-star Jordan Seaton, the Buffs desperately needed more depth up front. Roye adds proven experience and could provide a valuable insurance policy at multiple spots.

This move may not grab national headlines, but it’s the type of addition that helps win games late in the season. Even if he doesn’t start, Roye’s presence raises the floor in Colorado’s offensive line room. Whether he ends up in the rotation or stays ready as a swing tackle, this is a smart depth piece for a unit that has room to grow. Additionally, his two years of remaining eligibility mean he may have a chance to start in 2026.

Welcome to Boulder, Andre!
