Running back Alton McCaskill is one of several Colorado players who recently entered the transfer portal.
Last week, after news broke of McCaskill’s decision to leave, his father ripped Colorado head coach Deion Sanders in a since-deleted post on X/Twitter.
“If my sons not RB1 We Gotta Go,” McCaskill’s father, Alton III, wrote. “He was ready last year! He’s a 100% this year! Unfortunately have to find another home where there’s no favoritism and he is valued, appreciate and has no doubts about RB1. He is the best RB in Colorado…But He Not settling!”
On Monday, five days after his father’s angry statement, Alton McCaskill took to X/Twitter to refute the elder McCaskill’s claims.
“Statement is not true!!! I don’t not have relations with this man. Please check my page for official statement,” the son said.

McCaskill, who rushed for 961 yards and 16 touchdowns for Memphis in 2021, gained only 59 yards on 14 carries for Colorado last season.
It’s unclear what role he would have played in 2024, but neither Deion nor his two sons appear fazed by any of these offseason defections.
“If you’re not playing here, that just means you’re doing something wrong,” Shedeur Sanders said during a press conference last week, via Denver Sports. “If you’re not playing here that means you’re doing something—not listening to the coaches or something.”
