Highly-touted cornerback transfer Cormani McClain has reportedly made a decision on his football future.
According to On3.com, the former five-star Colorado recruit has committed to play for Billy Napier and the Florida Gators. A huge land for the University of Florida’s program.
McClain didn’t see the field much to start his career but gradually earned more playing as the 2023 season went on. The Lakeland, FL native finished his lone year with the Buffs with 13 tackles and a pair of pass deflections after cracking the starting lineup in each of CU’s final three games.
A lot of that had to do with McClain’s mindset, coach Deion Sanders said at the time.
“He’s been a lot more focused,” Sanders admitted back in November. “A lot more understanding of the expectation and what we want from him — that we’ve challenged him tremendously all year long. He stood up to the task over the last, probably, week and a half. I’m really, really proud of Cormani. I really am.”
It’s never been a question of talent for McClain, who was the No. 1 ranked CB in his class, and now he’ll get the chance to show that in Gainesville.
McClain reportedly chose UF over fellow SEC schools Auburn, LSU and Texas.
