Another piece to what is shaping up to be a wide-open competition at running back is on the way to Boulder.
On Thursday, former Coastal Carolina and Mississippi State running back Simeon Price committed to joining Colorado. Price spent last season at Coastal Carolina after spending the previous three seasons at Mississippi State.
After losing star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman-winning receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, the Buffs have professed a desire to revive a running game that has essentially been nonexistent for two seasons under head coach Deion Sanders, though the prolific passing attack led by Shedeur often glossed over that shortcoming.
Price will join a mix that includes holdovers Dallan Hayden, Micah Welch and DeKalon Taylor, a transfer from FCS-level Incarnate Word.
Price played in nine games last season at Coastal Carolina, carrying the ball 44 times for 136 yards (an average of 3.1 per carry) while adding two receptions for seven yards. Price did not score a touchdown at Coastal Carolina.
Price appeared in four games as a true freshman at Mississippi State in 2021 and redshirted. He appeared in 12 games in 2022, making 30 rushing attempts for 150 yards, scoring a touchdown on a 32-yard reception against Bowling Green. Price appeared in eight games at Mississippi State in 2023 before transferring to Coastal Carolina.
The addition of Price brings the Buffs to 78 scholarship players and 103 total for the 2025 season, though personnel certainly can still shift before preseason practice starts next month. The House settlement approved last week caps football rosters at 105.
