Amid the fallout of a former player criticizing Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, the Buffaloes coach and even his family are firing back with everything they’ve got – which isn’t necessarily a good thing.
Earlier today, Deion Sanders made a somewhat cryptic post on X addressing “haters,” which most took as a response to comments that former Colorado player Xavier Smith made about him after being told to transfer last year.
Those comments that Smith made led to Sanders’ own son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, dismissing Smith as someone he didn’t remember and must have been “very mid at best.”
Well, Coach Prime appears to have doubled down on criticizing Smith. Taking to X a short while ago, Sanders posted a screenshot of Smith’s stats at Austin Peay last year and had just two words for him:
“Lawd Jesus.”

Fans really didn’t appreciate Coach Prime going after a college football player in that manner. Just about everyone pointed out that it’s a bad look and something that should be beneath the dignity of a serious football coach:
“You are ridiculous- be a leader of men- not a keyboard warrior. Win some games at this level and then start talking- until then, you are a mid coach,” one user replied.
“I’m a fan of you but bad look. You know dude is just a kid right?” wrote another.
“You’re a head football coach. What is this?” a third wrote.
Actions like this can get a fanbase – and the powers that be – to turn on one in the blink of an eye.
One thing seems clear: Coach Prime isn’t making any new friends with this post today.
