Shedeur Sanders will play in the NFL one day, but while he’s suiting up for his father at the University of Colorado, don’t expect any comparisons to professional players.
Deion Sanders said recently that he refuses to compare his sons to any other players.
“I don’t do that,” Sanders said, via On3. “I don’t compare my kids, nobody’s kids to another kid. I want them to be the first of somebody, not the second of somebody.”
It’s not just Shedeur and Shilo though that Deion applies this philosophy to. It goes for other players as well.
“I don’t do that. I don’t comp them to nobody,” Deion added. “Ain’t another Travis (Hunter) out there, ain’t another Shedeur out there. Ain’t another Shilo, Jimmy (Horn Jr.), or LaJohntay (Wester). I mean, shoot.”
The NFL itself will do plenty of comparing Shedeur to other quarterbacks throughout the 2024 season and the draft process next year. Currently, the Colorado star has been overtaken by Georgia’s Carson Beck as the most likely choice to be selected No. 1 overall in 2025.
At the moment, Beck is +300 to be the top pick, followed by Sanders at +450. For what it’s worth, Deion has said he anticipates his son going in the top five, but there is a lot of time between now and the 2025 NFL Draft, so things can change.
