Earlier this month, Shelomi Sanders, the daughter of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders, announced that she’s entering the transfer portal.
Fast forward to this week, and Sanders explained to DNVR Sports why he wasn’t fond of his daughter’s decision.
Sanders doesn’t have an issue with Shelomi leaving the Colorado women’s basketball team. His problem is that she entered the transfer portal without knowing where she’d go next.
“Which was stupid,” Sanders said, via On3. “You get a team. You gotta get a team before you get in the portal. You know, that’s what I would advise. (And everyone says) ‘oh it’s illegal.’ C’mon man. Everybody knows somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody. You kind of want them to do something and she has been truly advised.”
Shelomi just wrapped up her first full year with the Buffaloes. She only appeared in five games this past season.
With Shelomi set to leave Colorado and Shedeur expected to go pro in 2025, many fans are wondering if Coach Prime will leave the Buffaloes in the next year or so. He claims that won’t happen.
“So I’ve been dictating where my kids go, not them dictating where I go. I’m happy, I’m cool, I’m sound in Boulder,” Sanders said. “I love it 100% and we’re going to build a monument.”
Sanders is gearing up for his second season as the head coach of Colorado’s football team. He went 4-8 last season.
