Deion Sanders Jr. Says It’s Colorado Football Against The World

July 24, 2025 by The Spun

Deion Sanders, Colorado Band Story Isn’t True (1:28)

Colorado football has increased is profile under Deion Sanders, for better and worse.

The Buffaloes have earned their fair share of new fans but also a fresh set of detractors because of Sanders’ approach to how he runs his program.

Sometimes, that can result in some bizarre accusations being made, like the recent one that Sanders barred the CU band from playing after touchdowns so he could play his son Shedeur’s rap song.

Deion and the Colorado administration denied the claims, as did the coach’s son, Deion Jr., during a recent episode of the the Zero 2 Sixty podcast.

When addressing the story, Sanders Jr. said the Buffaloes’ mentality is it is them against the world

“Whatever people believe in, that’s where spirituality comes in,” Sanders Jr. said, via On3. “You’ve got to stay prayed up. You’ve got to stay this and that, because it’s daily attacks. And that’s what you try to get the team to understand, bro, this s—’s bigger than football. We not only playing against CSU, you’re playing against the world. The world wants to see you fail.”

Sanders Jr. said he whenever he goes on social media, he is subject to “bulls–t about Shedeur or your dad or your brothers every second of the day.”

“No matter what you say. I could tweet, ‘God is good’ and they’re going to say some crazy stuff. They’re going to respond back something. You see that all day every day,” he added.

Through two weeks, the Buffaloes are 1-1 after a 28-10 loss to Nebraska last Saturday. Colorado beat North Dakota State in Week 1.

Deion’s team will face in-state rival Colorado State on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
