CU athletics lands naming rights deal with Ford for indoor practice facility

August 8, 2025 by The Denver Post

The University of Colorado athletics department has landed a naming rights deal for its indoor practice facility.

On Thursday, CU announced that the athletics department and Buffalo Sports Properties have finalized a seven-year deal with Mountain States Ford Stores to become the official naming rights partner for the indoor practice facility, which will now be called the Ford Practice Facility.

Financial details of the deal were not available on Thursday. Ford is the first naming rights partner in the nine-year history of the indoor facility.

“We are so excited to welcome Ford as the naming rights partner for our state-of-the-art indoor practice facility,” CU athletic director Rick George said in a press release. “In addition to having an iconic company join the Buffs family, there is a natural synergy between our indoor practice facility, which is a net-zero energy building featuring its own solar array, and the promotion of Ford’s excellent line of electric vehicles.”

The Ford Practice Facility is 108,000 square feet and supports nearly every CU sport. It features a full-sized football field, a six-lane, 300-meter track, and space for conditioning, practices, and individual workouts.

The partnership with Ford encompasses a range of traditional and digital assets such as practice facility naming rights, intellectual property rights, presenting partner of CU Football first downs, prominent static signage, LED signage, and more.

Mountain States Ford has stores in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and South Dakota.

“We look forward to many unforgettable moments shared with fans under the iconic Flatirons,” Greg Larson, chairman of the Mountain States Ford Stores, said in a press release.

Buffalo Sports Properties is the exclusive multimedia rights holder for CU athletics and oversees all sponsorship agreements on behalf of the Buffs.

“We’re extremely proud to welcome Ford as a key partner of Colorado athletics and Buffalo Sports Properties,” said Andrew Popchock, general manager at Buffalo Sports Properties. “This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting era for Colorado Athletics, as our collaboration with Ford will continue to elevate and strengthen our athletes.”
