Another Colorado football player entered the transfer portal on Monday.
Wide receiver Kendal Stewart announced his decision on social media two days after the program’s spring game.
“Thank you to my coaches and teammates for taking me in and treating me like family,” Stewart wrote. “With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with four years of eligibility left.”
Stewart joined Deion Sanders’ program last year after catching seven touchdowns at Foster High School in Richmond, Texas. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound recruit redshirted during his freshman season and saw no playing time for the Buffaloes.
Sanders’ program continues to see significant roster turnover ahead of his second season as head coach. Stewart became the 22nd player to enter the spring portal, which opened two weeks ago.
Wide receivers Tar’Varish Dawson and Jacob Page went into the portal earlier this month. Willie Gaines, who caught two passes after following Coach Prime from Jackson State, entered the winter portal in January.
Xavier Weaver, Colorado’s leading receiver in 2023, signed with the Arizona Cardinals after going undrafted. Jimmy Horn Jr. and two-way star Travis Hunter return as Shedeur Sanders’ top targets.
The Buffaloes also added Will Sheppard and LaJohntay Wester through the portal. Sheppard scored 17 touchdowns during his last two seasons at Vanderbilt, and Wester tallied 108 catches for 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns for Florida Atlantic in 2023.
Colorado averaged 294.7 passing yards per game during a 4-8 season.
