This Saturday the Colorado Buffalos take on Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. But with Clark serving as the superhuman superstar of the tournament, at least one Colorado player is ready to play the part of the supervillain.
In an interview with Sean Keeler of The Denver Post, Colorado guard Tameiya Sadler declared that the Buffaloes have been “excited to be that villain” in the NCAA Tournament and are going to try to get into Clark’s head in order to get the win this weekend.
“It’d be hard to get into her head,” Sadler said. “But we’re going to try it.
“We’re going to keep going. We’re going to give her our best fight, for sure. Give her anything that we have to throw her off her game and get this one.
“Caitlin’s very emotional, so for us, it’s like, we can’t feed into her emotions that she’s going to play with. Because she’s going to fall, she’s going to throw up her hands, she’s going to talk to the refs. But at the end of the day, we can’t focus on that. We have to focus on us… I feel like, going into the Kansas State game, we were like, ‘We want to come in and ruin everyone’s day,’
“This is what we want to do. And so we like that underdog mentality because that’s when we play our best brand of basketball. So we were excited to be that villain.”
The Buffaloes have already knocked off one team from the state of Iowa, beating Drake in the First round by a score of 86-72 before defeating Kansas State 63-50 in the Second Round a few days ago.
Will the Buffaloes shock the world and beat the Hawkeyes?
