The Buffs and Boomers will play in late July
Tad Boyle and the Colorado Buffaloes’ summer just got a lot more eventful, as the team has officially locked in an exhibition matchup with the Australian Boomers Men’s Basketball National Team in late July.
Allowed once every four years, Boyle announced that he’ll be taking his team to Australia for an international tour. The Buffs will head down under for around two weeks, from July 23 to August 5, and play four exhibition games against Aussie opponents.
CU’s matchup with the Boomers is the first of their exhibition games and will likely be the most difficult. The Boomers’ roster is littered with some of the best players that Australia’s National Basketball League has to offer, including some former NCAA Division I players from major schools like Miami and Wisconsin.
The Boomers should give Bangot Dak, Barrington Hargress and Sabastian Rancik a real challenge. As a team, getting to play such a formidable opponent so early into the summer could act as a serious booster to development. Getting to play the Boomers is likely the best possible case scenario for the Buffs, and Boyle agrees.
“So it’ll be a heck of a challenge for us, heck of an opportunity for us to get better,” said Boyle in a press release. “You want to play against the best, so we’re trying to do that. We are really fortunate and happy to have this opportunity.”
Fans can get an extra-early sneak peek at the 2025-26 Buffs when they play the Boomers at the Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Center near Brisbane. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm AEST on July 31st, which will be at 7:00 pm on July 30th in Colorado. That’s a 17-hour difference, whew…
Details about how to watch the game and CU’s other three exhibition opponents will be released at a later date. As soon as they become available, we’ll update here at Ralphie Report.
