The Buffs are gaining more depth up front

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes aren’t done building up front, snagging former Northwestern offensive lineman Cooper Lovelace from the transfer portal late on Friday night.

Lovelace, the 6-foot-5, 315-pound combo tackle/guard, started his college career at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas in 2019, where he stood out and earned an offer from Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans in 2022.

After playing 53 snaps through seven games across two seasons in Los Angeles, Lovelace decided that a change in scenery was necessary and chose to take his talents to the banks of Lake Michigan at Northwestern. With the Wildcats, Lovelace started eight games and appeared in 11 in 2024.

The former three-star offensive lineman from Kansas undeniably has the talent to make a difference for Colorado in the trenches. He profiles more as a depth piece, sliding into either right guard or tackle if someone needs a breather or gets injured. Too much depth is never a bad thing, and Lovelace adds much more versatility to Andre Gurode’s personnel.

Welcome to Boulder, Cooper!
