Colorado football’s roster has been a revolving door this spring. One of the biggest transfers out occurred on Tuesday.
Running back Dylan Edwards is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer. Edwards was the Buffaloes’ leading rusher in 2023, tallying 321 yards and one touchdown on 76 carries.
He also finished fourth on the team in receptions with 36, gaining 299 yards and scoring four touchdowns as a pass catcher. Four of Edwards’ five touchdowns came in Colorado’s season-opening 45-42 win over TCU.
A one-time Notre Dame commit, Edwards will be eligible immediately and have three seasons to play at his next destination.
Overall, Colorado leads the country with 39 transfers out but also tops the list with 30 incoming transfers, meaning it will be a very different roster for Deion Sanders in year two in Boulder.
“We good. I trust the recruiting team, I our coaches,” Sanders said recently about the exodus from his program. “Please have some faith in me. We good. We’re alright. What happens with the portal and you guys need to know, a lot of people are fighting for backups. When a guy’s a starter and he transfers, you’ve got to really think about that.”
The Buffaloes actually landed a major running back transfer on Monday afternoon, picking up a commitment from former Ohio State Buckeye Dallan Hayden.
