Andre Hart gets his guy

Coach Prime may be recuperating in Dallas, but recruiting does not stop for any man or malady. THE TEAM MUST BE BUILT. The Colorado Buffaloes are officially opting into the House settlement, meaning they have 105 scholarships to work with moving forward. That means even more recruiting.

Colby Johnson has been a target for the staff for a while. Coach Andre Hart has scouted him for a while, with an official offer going out in early May. Colby plays high school ball at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, Washington. If you’re like me, you have no idea where that actually is. Apparently, it’s a suburb of a suburb outside of Seattle. Johnson plays both ways for Eastlake, lining up in the backfield on offense and at linebacker on defense. LB is where his future lies in football. Colby Johnson held offers from Arizona, Washington State and San Diego State before choosing the Buffs.

Johnson is a lot rangier than the Coach Prime linebackers we have seen in the past (Vonta Bentley, we miss you). His tape shows a rangy athlete with plenty of movement speed and a lot of room to grow. He is 6’3, 200 pounds now, so he will have to put on weight when he gets to college. It’s clear he has great line-of-scrimmage vision and he sifts through trash really well (on offense or defense).
