While it remains unclear whether Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule did anything worth getting Deion Sanders so upset last week, Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell wasted little time trying to take a shot at the Colorado Buffaloes head coach.
In a recent interview, Norvell took a thinly-veiled shot at Sanders by saying that he was taught to take his hat and glasses off when talking to people. Sanders is pretty well-known for wearing both his hat and his sunglasses for on-field interviews and the occasional press conference.
“I sat down with ESPN today,” Norvell said, per Sports Illustrated’s Fan Nation. “I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, I took my hat off and I took my glasses off. I said when I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.”
Fans were stunned that Norvell would have the audacity to call out Coach Prime in that way – particularly with the line about his mother. Some believe he’s just doing it for attention while others believe he’s unwisely poking the bear.
“That’s what my mother taught me.” Man, what was Jay Norvell thinking? 🤨 https://t.co/5ioXbKKvdi

Crazy part is, people will come on here Sunday and pretend we made everything up and that he wasn’t taking shots at Coach Prime. Dude is clearly jealous & threatened by Prime. Coach said nothing but nice things about this guy. Yet becuz dude is insecure all he can do is HATE! https://t.co/Qd7S39IhB2

Jay Norvell and the Colorado State Rams are underdogs by three touchdowns heading into Boulder this weekend.
Knowing Deion Sanders and how much his players care for him, it would honestly be surprising if they didn’t cover that spread on the first four drives.
How will Sanders respond to Norvell?
