Here’s what we think the best road game is for the Denver Broncos next season.
Happy Saturday, folks! We are just about done with all these schedule discussions. I’ve saved one of the best for last — in my opinion, at least.
There were three games that excited me the most when the Denver Broncos schedule released on Wednesday. All three were prime time games against big time games against opponents likely to draw a lot of national media interest on top of it being prime time. The first comes early with the Denver Broncos hosting the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football, but the other two are road games on Sunday and Thursday nights against the Washington Commanders and then the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.
Of the two road games there, I am most excited about the one that will matter the least for Denver in terms of playoff seeding or division importance and that is taking on Jayden Daniels and the Commanders in Week 13. I think what has me most excited about this one in particular is that my step dad was a huge fan of the ‘skins back in the day and gave me quite the hard time in that one Super Bowl we won’t talk about. I was only 8 or 9 at the time, so it didn’t sting too badly.
I’d love to see the Broncos defense go out there and show Daniels how the sophomore blues can be, but I’d like it even more if Bo Nix outplayed in a shootout-style game. I definitely look forward to this one.
Here’s how the rest of the Mile High Report staff think about the best road game.
Scotty: Christmas Night vs. the Chiefs! Ruin Christmas for the most annoying fan base in all of sports.
John: SNF vs the Commanders looks like a blast.
Hart: It has to be the Christmas night matchup against the Chiefs. I’d be ecstatic if the Broncos can dish out lumps of coal to Chiefs Kingdom. If all goes well leading up to it, perhaps it’s the game that gives Denver their first AFC West title since 2015. Wouldn’t that be a great present for Broncos Country?
Ian: I’ll echo the sentiments of the Christmas night game in KC. What could make that night even better is if Denver goes into that game with the chance to win the AFC West. Double dose of coal for Chiefs Kingdom.
Ross: The Week 3 game against the Eagles. Maybe I’m being hopelessly optimistic, but imagine if they go into the Link and knock off the defending Super Bowl champs.
Adam: Christmas in KC is a good option. Technically, the Broncos are the road team in London, where presumably they will be able to teach Jamie Tart what a Bronco is, so I’ll add that one in here.
Joe: Christmas in that place that thinks they know BBQ. KC is to BBQ what St. Louis is to the Blues – neither can hold a candle to Memphis where I live.
Taylor: Part of me really wants to say the Eagles due to the value of playing in a tough environment vs the defending Super Bowl champs, but I don’t think you can top the confluence of opportunities that Christmas Night game in KC represents.
